The Cobalt Appeal Fund is a leading medical charity founded in 1964, helping in Disease Prevention, Research, Treatment and Diagnosis. We are dedicated to providing patients with better access to diagnostic services such as MRI and by continuing to improve efficiency we help to drive down prices. We believe that our self-funding charge of £218, inclusive of a disease-specific Consultant Radiologist report, to be one of the lowest in the United Kingdom. The success of the MRI service has lead to its growing use by patients being referred from many parts of the country. We have been a major partner with the NHS in establishing the Cheltenham Cancer Centre and other health care facilities.

We are a unique diagnostic centre in that we are able to offer clinical scanning at a variety of magnetic strengths (measured in Teslas), on different magnets and fields. We currently utilise a High Field OPEN Panorama, 3.0 Tesla Achieva, 1.5 Tesla Achieva and 1.5 Tesla Intera. Our scanners receive software and hardware upgrades regularly to incorporate new technologies. 

Registered to ISO9001: 2000 for the quality of service that we give to our patients we have demonstrated our ability to consistently deliver high quality clinical imaging at low cost. We receive patient referrals to our Cheltenham based service from all over the United Kingdom and all our reports are undertaken by Specialist Consultant Radiologists who are NHS based - No films are transferred abroad for reporting. 

There are many reasons for directing work towards a certain MR system including required resolution, field of view, speed, isocentric imaging, tissue saturation, body area, claustrophobia, comfort and of course referrer or patient choice. Please be assured that we are experts in MRI and will be looking to take scans in the most appropriate way to aid diagnosis. 

Appointments are available daily - we have no waiting times, and you are able to take your MRI images away with you immediately after your appointment, on film or CD. Our specialists will then look at all of your images and we will provide a report from a disease specific Consultant Radiologist within a few days of your scan.
