Tribute Fund
If you have lost someone as a
result of cancer or other awful disease, you will perhaps have a
sense of determination - a determination to make a difference both
now and in the future.
A Cobalt Tribute
Fund provides a way of doing just that; celebrating
the life of someone very special through fundraising activities and
donations, watching the Tribute Fund grow, in the knowledge that
the inspiration is a loved one and they are still making a
difference.
A Lasting Tribute - This is what
Mark Drew's parents had to say:
"Mark was
just 27 when he lost his life through pancreatic cancer on 5th June
2007. He was a very loving man, fantastic son, brother and
uncle and very loyal friend. He was also a very keen
sportsman who enjoyed darts, snooker and especially
football.
It was through his love of football that it was decided to
play a game in his memory and Mark's Memorial Match, followed by a
raffle, took place on Friday 2nd May, between Horsley United and
Forest Green Rovers Veterans.
Both teams consisted of players who had played with Mark
during his life and the match was extremely successful with over
300 people attending and showing their support, raising
£1,320.52.
We chose to support Cobalt as it was a charity that Mark was
very supportive of, often taking part in sponsored walks etc and we
decided to have a Tribute Fund set up in this name.
It is wonderful to know that the Mark Drew Tribute Fund will
grow year upon year, giving family, friends and colleagues
something positive to focus on and the opportunity to help other
local people. Our last fundraiser was on the August bank holiday
and plans are in place for next year's Mark's Memorial Match!"

Once set up, family, friends and
colleagues can contribute to the Fund in whatever way they wish;
through donations, by organising fundraising events or taking part
in an event and raising sponsorship.
As the Tribute Fund grows year upon
year it is comforting to know that memories are kept alive in such
a positive way. Each and every contribution is a tribute to your
loved one in its own right and will make a huge difference to the
work of Cobalt in its constant fight against cancer and serious
illness.
