Meet our 2024 judges

Des OngDes Ong

Des is a professional wildlife photographer based in the UK. Born in the tropics, he grew up with a fascination for animals and plants, which led to the study of marine biology. His love of art also began from an early age, with watercolour paintings being his main pastime throughout his teenage years. Wildlife photography is a combination of these two passions – it is his artistic expression of the natural world.

Des’ work can be seen in many publications and commercial uses. He has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions such as the California Academy of Sciences Big Picture Natural World Photography Competition, International Garden Photographer of the Year, Friends of the Earth Renewable Energy Photo Competition, and British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA).

Des conducts workshops and trains photographers of all levels, as well as delivering presentations internationally.

Martin FryMartin Fry

A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, Martin’s images have received over 500 awards in international exhibitions across 37 countries. He has been a panel member on the PAGB and RPS Distinctions and is a recipient of the RPS Dobson Henry Medal for Services to AV. A retired Gloucestershire Headteacher, Martin is an Honorary Life Member of Cheltenham Camera Club. Last year, his achievements in The Arts were recognised by the town with the award of the prestigious Joyner Cup. A great deal of Martin's photography is inspired by the beauty of his native Gloucestershire and the spectacular Cornish landscape. An internationally recognised Judge, Martin is looking forward to seeing the work entered for this year’s calendar in support of this very deserving charity.

Jimmy Fletcher

Jimmy Fletcher

Jimmy Fletcher is a multi-award winning documentary photographer and filmmaker from Gloucestershire, specialising in wildlife and rural photography. After graduating from the University of Gloucestershire in 2023, Jimmy won Best in Show at the Association of Photographers student awards. He has exhibited his work across London and Cheltenham and has had a Capture a Moment winning image for two years running.

Clio Hembrow

Clio Hembrow

Clio’s passion for photography was sparked when she was gifted a camera by her photographer grandfather, she honed her skills while studying for her Printmaking Degree at Winchester School of Art and hasn’t stopped since. Clio went on to be the manager of two art galleries, organising and helping with many exhibitions. Although she changed career path to work for the NHS and now Cobalt Health, she has continued with her printmaking, painting and photography selling products online and completing commissions for murals. She has recently been honoured to complete a photographic commission to illustrate a book about wartime fashion, with a sequel in the pipeline.
