Julia Jenkins, Head of Fundraising, Cobalt said ‘We’re very excited about the line-up of events this show has to offer and are very grateful for the generous support Stroud Vintage Transport and Engine Club are giving us. The money raised will go towards the purchase of a new MRI scanner for our imaging centre in Cheltenham’.
The new scanner the charity is investing in has been designed with a much wider bore. Patients will be able to personalize their experience by selecting a video theme. The video theme is projected onto the wall and viewed whilst the patient is inside the scanner via a mirror. The patient can listen to sound through headphones. There will also be ambient lighting in the scanning room to create a more relaxing and comfortable experience for patients and the scanning times will generally be shorter.

Cobalt supports cancer patients throughout their journey by helping them to receive a timely diagnosis using state of the art scanning equipment. These scans provide doctors with vital information about the extent of the disease prior to treatment; and later to assess whether the treatment is working effectively, which ensures patients are accessing the best possible personalised care. Cobalt also provides research, training and education for medical professionals to learn more about the latest techniques and advancements and to share knowledge and best practice, improving care for patients.
