Clive Richards OBE new Patron of Cobalt
2nd May 2018
We are proud to announce our first ever charity patron, Clive Richards OBE KSG DL.
Clive is the founder of The Clive and Sylvia Richards Charity and has been a long term supporter of Cobalt, along with many other charities. Clive brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role. He helped Cobalt in 2013 to fund new digital mammography equipment for The County Hospital, Wye Valley Trust in Hereford. The equipment assists with the diagnosis of breast cancer, enabling patients to be diagnosed locally without travelling outside the county.
Last year, The Clive and Sylvia Richards Charity supported Cobalt in the development of the purpose-built Institute of Translational Medicine (ITM) Imaging Centre. Equipped with state-of-the-art MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) technology, the new facility is the result of a collaboration between University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, medical charity Cobalt and the ITM. The Centre provides the latest techniques for routine clinical imaging and allows development in research areas including oncology, liver disease, cardiology, neuroscience and trauma. The ITM Imaging Centre helps progress and pave the way for new clinical treatments. It gives clinicians access to high quality systems, improving diagnostics, treatments and ultimately outcomes for patients.
More recently The Clive and Sylvia Richards Charity kindly matched donations during our Big Give Campaign to help raise the funding for our Teenage and Young Adults with Cancer Nurse post.
