Cobalt’s Capture a Moment Photography Competition.

Entries will soon be open for Cobalt’s photography competition. There are some fantastic prizes including Royal Photographic Society memberships, £300 voucher from Wex Video, a portfolio review with acclaimed photographer Charlie Waite, photography workshops, magazine subscriptions and more.

Twelve winning images will be published in the Cobalt 2024 calendar, and framed prints will be exhibited then awarded to each winner.  The competition is raising funds to support teenagers and young adults with cancer.

We have two new judges this year, Martin Fry and Martin Cooper.  Martin Fry is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and his images have received over 500 awards in international exhibitions across 37 countries. Martin Cooper is an experienced landscape photographer and a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (awarded for a high degree of proficiency). Martin advises that the most important thing is to get out and take photographs at every opportunity.

The final judge is Karen Hackling-Searle, Head of MRI for Cobalt, “The competition is open to everyone, no experience is necessary, just share what you see behind your lens. It is easy to upload your image for a donation of £2 and all the proceeds will be used to fund Megan, our specialist cancer nurse for teenagers and young adults”.

Megan supports some of the most vulnerable in our society; 16 – 25 year olds who have been given a cancer diagnosis. Cobalt needs to raise £28,000 each year to ensure that the vital support they receive will continue. Teenagers and young adults facing a cancer diagnosis often have different needs to adults and are at a vulnerable stage in their life as well as the stress of ill health and the physical changes cancer may bring – hair loss, amputation and fertility issues. Specialised care is required not just in terms of their illness, but also in terms of their educational, financial and relationship needs.

Full details of the competition and how to enter along with terms and conditions can be found on the charity’s website www.cobalthealth.co.uk/supportus. Anyone who would like to know more about Cobalt’s work should phone the fundraising team on 01242 535922 or email fundraising@cobalthealth.co.uk.
