Dr Janet Ropner joins local medical charity Cobalt as Trustee

Dr Janet Ropner FRCP FRCPath joins local medical charity, Cobalt’s Board of Trustees. Janet will bring a wealth of experience to the Charity’s Board including clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety along with leading and managing change. She joins a board with a broad range of skills, including healthcare and business, and is the second female board member. Five out of nine senior management posts at Cobalt are held by women.
Janet trained in Medicine at University College Hospital, London followed by Haematology training in Oxford. She was a Consultant Haematologist at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 1984 until 2008. During this time she held several managerial posts including Clinical Director for Medicine and Associate Medical Director. She continued as Associate Medical Director part time from 2008 until 2018 when she retired.

Janet has a particular interest in patient safety. She was previously a Trustee of Winston’s Wish having worked with its Founder Julie Stokes. Janet is also a trained Mentor, Executive Coach and Mediator. She lives in Cheltenham and enjoys spending time with her family including two grandchildren, playing tennis and learning modern Greek.
