Fairview Community Association raise over £7,000 towards the work of the local Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Nurse, Megan Willsher
9th February 2018
A massive thank you to the Fairview Community Association, for raising over £7,000 towards the work of the local Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Nurse, Megan Willsher.
The Fairview Community Association (FCA) was established in 2013 with an aim and vision to support and encourage local residents in helping to make the area a better and safer place to live.
Each year the FCA, with the aid of community volunteers, helps establish an independent committee to organise and manage the annual fireworks display at the Cheltenham Cricket Club. In recent years this has included two displays, one for young children and a later one for adults.
Last November the annual fireworks party attracted nearly three and a half thousand people and a proportion of the proceeds was donated to Cobalt to support the role of the NHS TYA Nurse. This money, coupled with a bucket collection at the event, raised an astonishing £7174.86 in total!
Megan Willsher works with all 16-24 year olds in the three counties with a diagnosis of cancer and her role in our community cannot be underestimated. Further information on her role can be found here
Cobalt is hugely grateful to the Fairview Community for this generous donation and would especially like to thank the local volunteers (around 100 of them) and the Cheltenham Cricket Club for their support in this vital community role.
