Huge leap forward towards smashing breast equipment appeal target
12th December 2018
Cobalt were thrilled to raise over £56,000 in one week towards providing equipment that will help detect breast cancer at an earlier stage. The new equipment will be the only type of its kind in the whole of Gloucestershire.
We participated in this year’s Big Give, a national online campaign which enabled donations made to be doubled. £25,000 of match funding was made available to Cobalt by the Clive and Sylvia Richards Charity.
Julia Jenkins, Head of Fundraising, Cobalt said: “We were absolutely thrilled that The Big Give raised £56,147 – this is a huge leap forward towards our fundraising target – which is now in our sights. We are very grateful to all our supporters and volunteers and have also been very touched by their many reasons for supporting this campaign and the incredible things they are doing to raise money. This is a big step towards our target and we would like to be able to be in a position to install the equipment in Spring 2019”.
The new equipment will be installed into the Thirlestaine Breast Centre in Cheltenham which serves a population of 115,000 women of screening age in Gloucestershire. It will help to detect breast cancer at an earlier stage, as well as enable more accurate detection and make treatment more effective.
We still have a small way to go to achieving their target of providing the equipment. To find out more go to https://www.cobalthealth.co.uk/support-us/gloucestershire-breast-cancer-equipment-appeal/
Some fantastic local supporters really helped Cobalt achieve this so thank you all!
