The Muddy Funkers Coast 2 Coast Charity Bike Ride – Day 1
25th August 2017
The Muddy Funkers were a group of supporters who embarked on an epic journey with their bikes to raise money for Cobalt. The following is part one of five blogs they wrote for us along the way. If they inspire you then get in touch to see how you could support us.
We’ve safely made it to Ravenglass in the Lake District, are fed, watered and calling it a day.
Tomorrow we set off for Grizedale Forest just east of Coniston Water. Donald Campbell famously set multiple water speed records on Coniston and then tragically died attempting to break the record in 1967. There’s now a museum in Coniston dedicated to his life and the engineering behind his world beating machines.
Back to our charity ride, tomorrow is one of the shorter stages at around 30 miles but takes in some serious climbing. We’ll reach approximately 700m (hopefully by lunch) before rapidly dropping down to the lake below.
