We’re thrilled to announce the winners of Cobalt’s Capture a Moment Photography Competition for 2024. All those who took part have helped fund our specialist nurse who helps teenagers and young adults for cancer across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
The competition was open to everyone, no experience was necessary, and with a special category for under 16’s with its own prize.
The twelve winning images can be seen published in the Cobalt 2025 calendar, and framed prints are now exhibited at Linton House for the next few weeks. Last night there was a private view for the winners and Karen Hackling Searle, Director of Clinical Operations from Cobalt was there to congratulate the participants.
People are welcome to see the prints on display at the Cobalt Coffee Morning and Christmas Card launch on 28th September from 10-12 (noon).
Louise Cook, Head of Fundraising said, ‘We are so grateful to everyone who helps make this competition from our incredible sponsors, our judges and especially to all those who enter. Thank you so much for supporting our funding of a Teenage and Young Adult specialist cancer nurse for Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.’
Cobalt would like to thank the sponsors Wex Video, Royal Photographic Society, Captivating Nature, Digital Camera, Captivating Nature, Hatchard’s, WallSpace, DSCL and Slimbridge for support of this competition.

The funds raised from the competition will help fund Megan, our specialist nurse for teenagers and young adults with cancer.
Megan supports some of the most vulnerable in our society; 16 – 25 year olds who have been given a cancer diagnosis. Cobalt needs to raise £28,000 each year to ensure that the vital support they receive will continue. Teenagers and young adults facing a cancer diagnosis often have different needs to adults and are at a vulnerable stage in their life as well as the stress of ill health and the physical changes cancer may bring – hair loss, amputation and fertility issues. Specialised care is required not just in terms of their illness, but also in terms of their educational, financial and relationship needs.
